Steps to make Apple Pie Bar
Peel and dice the green apples;
Cook the diced apples with brown sugar over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the apples soften;
Add cinnamon powder, unsalted butter, and cornstarch;
Saute until the ingredients are evenly mixed and sticky, then set aside;
Take out the pastry from the refrigerator and open both pieces;
Place the filling on one half of the pastry, as evenly as possible, leaving about 1cm of space around the edges. Brush the edges with egg;
Cover the half without filling over the half with filling, and press the edges with your hands;
Use a fork to press around the edges for a neat appearance;
Use a special pastry cutter to cut out a wavy pattern (optional), trim off the excess corners, and place on a baking sheet;
Use a sharp knife or scissors to make 5-6 cuts or marks on the surface to allow air to escape during baking and to facilitate cutting into bars;
Brush the surface of the pastry evenly with beaten egg;
Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) with the Bake function for 10 minutes, then rotate the baking sheet 180° and bake for about 10 more minutes. In the last few minutes, it is best to turn on the oven light. If the surface is already dark, remove it immediately. When serving, use a sharp knife to cut into bars along the air vents.
