Step-by-step Cooking Instructions for Cherry French Toast
Start by making the cherry syrup. Wash the cherries and remove the pits using a straw.
Place pitted cherries in a pot, sprinkle with powdered icing sugar, mix well, and let it sit for about an hour for the sugar to dissolve.
Once the sugar is completely dissolved.
Place on the heat, simmer on low heat for about fifteen minutes.
Cook until the sauce thickens, then let it cool. If you make extra, you can store it in a sealed jar in the refrigerator; it will last for about two weeks.
Next, make the French toast by mixing milk and eggs in a bowl until well combined.
Sift the mixture for a smoother texture.
Pair two slices of toast together and cut a heart shape in the middle of one slice.
Dip the toast into the egg-milk mixture to soak up the liquid.
Heat a skillet, add a little oil, place the toast and cook for 2 minutes to set the bottom.
Melt maple syrup and butter in a bowl over a water bath, stir until well combined.
Spread the butter-syrup mixture on top and around the cooked toast.
Preheat the oven to 150 degrees Celsius, bake the toast in the oven for 8 minutes.
Remove the baked French toast and place it on a plate.
Add the cherry syrup on top, brush with a layer of butter-syrup mixture, and enjoy!
