Detailed Steps for Making Christmas Gift – Almond Snowballs
Prepare and weigh all the required ingredients.
Soften the butter at room temperature and add powdered sugar. Mix with an egg beater until it turns white.
Add salt, egg yolk, and vanilla powder. Mix well.
Add sifted low-gluten flour and almond flour (if the almond flour particles are too large, it is not necessary to sift them, just add them directly). Mix with a rubber spatula from bottom to top to form a dough (it is better to knead it into a ball with your hands later).
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it relax in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
Take a small piece of dough and shape it into a round shape. After flattening it, place a large almond on top (this step is optional, you can also bake it directly into a round shape without adding almonds, but it is recommended to add them).
Slowly wrap the almond and shape it into a round shape (if the almond is too sharp and long, you can cut off the sharp corners). Bake it in the middle of the oven at 170 degrees Celsius for about 15 minutes until the surface turns golden. Take it out and pour it into a plate with powdered sugar while it is still hot. Roll it a few times to evenly coat each snowball with powdered sugar.
If you plan to give it as a gift, you can sprinkle another layer of powdered sugar on the surface after putting it in a pastry box for better effect.
