Detailed Steps for Cooking Christmas Shaped Steamed Buns
Prepare the ingredients.
Knead the white and green dough according to the recipe. Adjust the amount of flour based on the dough’s moisture level. Cover the kneaded dough with plastic wrap and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Divide the rested white dough into three portions. Add red yeast powder to one portion to create red dough. For bamboo charcoal and purple sweet potato dough, add the respective powders and knead until well combined.
Take out 5 portions of matcha dough, each weighing 70g (adjust as desired). Roll each portion into a long strip. Cover the other dough with plastic wrap for later use.
Roll one portion of dough into a thin strip and cross it in the middle, as shown in the picture.
Press from the right side first, then the left side, as shown in the picture.
Shape it into a tree shape and stick the ends together to form a Christmas tree shape.
Take small amounts of each colored dough, roll them into thin strips or small dots, and decorate the Christmas tree.
Repeat the process for the remaining dough portions. Place them on a steaming tray lined with parchment paper. The gloves and cane can be made by following the images.
Place the steaming tray in a preheated steamer and let it ferment at a constant temperature of 40 degrees Celsius for 20 minutes. Once it has expanded to 1.5 times its original size, it is ready. Over-fermentation may cause deformation during steaming.
Fill the water tank of the steamer with clean water. Place the steaming tray on the middle rack of the oven. Select the steam setting at 100 degrees Celsius for 13 minutes. After the program ends, do not open the oven immediately. Let it sit for 5 minutes before opening the oven door.
We also made Santa Claus, scarves, gloves, etc., all of which were created freely. The dough amounts were not specified. The two flower shapes were made by my daughter.
