Step-by-Step Guide to Making Cranberry Jam
Choose fresh cranberries, which are usually available in supermarkets in the fall. It is said that eating cranberries can help prevent urinary tract infections. Cranberry extracts are also available in pharmacies.
These little red fruits are very beautiful.
Wash the cranberries and put them in a saucepan. Add 200g of syrup and 200g of granulated sugar. Slowly simmer over low heat. If you run out of syrup, it’s okay to add some water. I prefer using syrup only as it results in a very thick jam.
Simmer over low heat until it boils. Stir slowly with a spoon to prevent sticking. Once the fruit is broken down, it’s ready. This process takes about 20 minutes. Since no water is added, the jam is more authentic. Cranberries are naturally sour, so there’s no need to add lemon juice for preservation. Bottle the jam and store it in the refrigerator. It can last for at least 3 months, although it’s usually finished much sooner due to its delicious taste.
The sweet and sour taste is delightful. Spread it on bread or steamed buns for a delicious treat. It’s much tastier than consuming cranberry extracts.
