Detailed Steps for Cooking Date and Walnut Sticky Cakes
Tools for removing date pits.
Since the tool is a bit short, it can only be inserted from both ends. Poke the date pit with a chopstick and it will come out easily.
Wash the dates and dry them. Removing the pits took less than 10 minutes.
Chop the dates with a knife.
Mix the ingredients together, don’t forget the baking soda.
Add 1/3 of the boiling water and stir.
Knead the dough with cold water for about 30 minutes. (The dough should be a little dry.)
Mix the cornmeal and dates together as evenly as possible by hand.
Heat oil in a flat-bottomed pan, cover with a lid, and fry slowly over low heat. Dates are easy to burn, so be careful. (Keep your hands slightly wet during the process to prevent the dough from sticking to your hands.)
Done! Made 10 cakes, each with 5 dates.
