【Dragon Boat Festival · Zongzi】Healthy Mixed Grain Zongzi Detailed Cooking Steps
Prepare the glutinous rice. Wash it with cold water.
Prepare the dry zongzi leaves.
Prepare the wheat kernel, corn crumbs, mung beans, kidney beans, and sorghum kernel.
After washing the glutinous rice, drain the water (no need to soak).
Add some cold water to a frying pan and bring it to a boil; put the dry zongzi leaves in the boiling water and blanch for 2 minutes.
Take out the blanched zongzi leaves, wash them, and cut off the pointed ends on both sides.
Mix the mixed grains and glutinous rice together.
Take two zongzi leaves and cross them to form a funnel shape.
Put the mixed grains and glutinous rice into the funnel.
Press the zongzi leaves tightly against the glutinous rice with your right hand and fold them inward.
Then fold to the right and back.
Tie a piece of cotton thread tightly, but not too tight.
The mixed grain zongzi is ready.
Prepare a large pot, put the wrapped zongzi in it, and add enough water to submerge the zongzi; boil over high heat, then simmer over medium heat for 1 hour until cooked.
The cooked zongzi is tightly packed, firm, and chewy because the glutinous rice was not soaked.
