Steps to Make Hawthorn Love of My Husband – Petal Hawthorn Cake
Cut the hawthorn in half and remove the core and seeds.
Add a small amount of water.
Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low heat and cook for 15-20 minutes. Stir constantly during the cooking process.
Soak the agar in water while cooking the hawthorn.
After the hawthorn is cooked until soft, mash it with a tool.
Add rock sugar and soaked agar, and cook over low heat for another 10-15 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent sticking to the pot.
If you want a smoother texture, strain it through a sieve. I didn’t strain it because my husband likes the feeling of hawthorn skin in the cake.
Pour the hawthorn paste into an 8-inch non-stick square cake mold, let it cool, and refrigerate for 3-4 hours or overnight.
Remove from the refrigerator, unmold, cut into pieces, and arrange on a plate. I used a cookie cutter to press some flower-shaped hawthorn cakes.
