Hele Clay Pot Roasted Sweet Potatoes Cooking Steps
Prepare the Hele clay pot, do not wash the pot with water, especially the white circle at the bottom of the pot, do not touch water at all. Use a dry towel or tissue to wipe the inside of the pot clean before roasting;
Wash the sweet potatoes clean, try to choose sweet potatoes of similar sizes;
Place a roasting rack in the Hele clay pot;
Around the roasting rack, wrap the edges of the clay pot with aluminum foil, using two pieces of foil in a “cross” shape to wrap the pot. This way, the moisture will not flow to the bottom of the pot during roasting;
Neatly arrange the sweet potatoes in the clay pot;
Cover the clay pot and start roasting over high heat;
After about 30 minutes, uncover the pot, flip the sweet potatoes once (adjust the roasting time based on the size of the sweet potatoes), and continue roasting over high heat;
My sweet potatoes are quite large, so I roasted them for about an hour. Check if the sweet potatoes are cooked by inserting a chopstick in the middle. If it goes in smoothly and easily, the sweet potatoes are done;
Turn off the heat, do not uncover the pot, let it sit for about 10 minutes using the residual heat of the clay pot. Once the pot is no longer hot to the touch, it’s ready to eat.
