Steps to make Homemade Apple Pie
Peel and dice the green apples;
Cook the diced apples with sugar over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the apples soften;
Add cinnamon powder, unsalted butter, and cornstarch;
Stir until the mixture is even and sticky, then set aside;
Take out the pastry sheet from the refrigerator, open it, and cut it into eight pieces (or four pieces if you prefer larger pies). Put the filling on one half of a piece of pastry sheet, and try to distribute it evenly;
Cover the filling with the other half of the pastry sheet, and press the edges with your fingers;
Use a fork to press the edges for a better appearance;
Use a special pastry cutter to create a wavy pattern on the edges (optional);
Use a sharp knife or scissors to make 3-5 cuts on the surface;
Beat the egg and brush it evenly on the surface of the pie. Put it in a baking pan and bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for 10 minutes, then turn the pan 180° and bake for another 10 minutes. If the surface is already dark, take it out immediately.
