Detailed Steps for Making Homemade Breakfast Youtiao
Mix flour, baking powder, and salt together, then add water and mix until a dough forms. Add cooking oil and knead the dough. Let it rest for 20 minutes, then knead it again. Divide the dough into 2 portions (as shown in the picture) and let it rest at room temperature for 2 hours (you can prepare the dough the night before and fry it the next morning).
Take one portion of the dough.
Stretch the dough into a long strip and cut it into small pieces without kneading the dough.
Cut the dough slightly shorter than usual, overlap two pieces of dough, moisten the middle, and press it down.
Make the other portion of the dough into youtiao and cover it with plastic wrap to prevent it from drying out.
Heat cooking oil in a pan until it reaches 375°F, then fry the youtiao.
Fry the other portion of the dough until golden brown (I use an iron pan to fry).
The youtiao is golden brown and crispy (no beauty filter used in the photo).
