Homemade Italian Potato Gnocchi Cooking Steps
Prepare two cooked potatoes. I used baked potatoes, but steamed or boiled ones will work too. Just make sure to pat them dry.
Mash the potatoes, sprinkle with black pepper and salt for seasoning.
Add the beaten egg, sift in the flour gradually until the potato dough is no longer sticky.
Knead the dough until smooth (the dough in the picture is not fully kneaded yet; it will be less sticky when enough flour is added).
Roll into a long strip.
Cut into small pieces about 2.5cm x 2.5cm (I cut them somewhat randomly).
Take a fork, turn it over. Place a piece of dough on top and press a finger to create an indentation on the top. This will create a pattern on the back with the fork’s tines, which looks nice. Boil water in a pot, add the gnocchi, cook until they float to the surface.
Below is the sauce I made, which is quite simple as I didn’t have many condiments as a student. Heat oil in a pan, add onions and sauté until fragrant, then add diced tomatoes and chopped sausages. Once cooked, add two tablespoons of tomato sauce. Add the cooked gnocchi, stir well, season with salt and pepper, and it’s ready to serve.
