Detailed steps for cooking Honey Grapefruit Jam
First, rub the grapefruit peel with salt for about two minutes, rub it a few more times, and rub the wax on the surface of the grapefruit clean. Use a peeler to scrape off the grapefruit peel, try to scrape it thin, and do not scrape off the white skin of the fruit.
Use a knife to scrape off the white skin that connects the grapefruit peel and the flesh. It should be scraped clean, otherwise the grapefruit jam made will be bitter.
Cut the grapefruit peel into thin strips.
Soak the grapefruit peel in clear water for two hours, and it is better to change the water several times in the middle. This can remove the bitterness of the grapefruit peel.
Break open the grapefruit flesh, and try to break it up a bit.
Take out the soaked grapefruit peel and put it in the pot with the grapefruit juice. Then pour in half a cup of water, bring to a boil over medium heat and then reduce to low heat.
Add rock sugar and simmer over low heat. Stir as much as possible to prevent sticking to the pot.
Simmer until the juice is reduced, turn off the heat and let it cool. This process takes about half an hour. I like it to be a bit chewy, but if you like it softer, you can add more water and simmer for a while longer.
After the grapefruit jam is cooled, add an appropriate amount of honey and mix well. You can taste the sweetness of the jam first, and then decide how much honey to add. This amount is very casual, more or less.
Put the finished Honey Grapefruit Jam in a sealed jar, refrigerate it in the refrigerator, and take it out to eat as needed.
