Detailed Steps for Cooking Honey Pomelo Sauce
First, soak the pomelo in warm water, apply an appropriate amount of salt to the pomelo, and rub it repeatedly two or three times.
Take out the pomelo from the salt water, rinse it with tap water, and use a knife to score and peel the pomelo.
Use a knife to remove the white part of the pomelo peel. Be careful not to cut your hand and try to remove as much of the white part as possible, as it can be bitter and affect the taste. If you have a peeler, you can directly peel the pomelo peel into strips.
After cutting the pomelo peel into thin strips, add some water and salt, knead it repeatedly to remove the bitterness, and marinate it with salt for 1 hour to remove the bitterness. You can also peel the pomelo flesh while marinating the peel.
When peeling the pomelo flesh, you can break it into small pieces and remove the white film attached to the flesh.
Rinse the pomelo peel with water and squeeze out the water. Pour it into a pot, add water and granulated sugar, and bring to a boil.
After the water boils, add the pomelo flesh and granulated sugar, add an appropriate amount of water (not too much), cover the pot, and cook over high heat.
Squeeze in lemon juice when the water boils, turn to low heat, and cook for half an hour to 45 minutes. You can add more sugar according to personal taste during this period.
After boiling, let it cool, add honey to marinate, and put it in the refrigerator for one or two days. Then, you can use warm water to make tea and drink it.
