Detailed Steps for Cooking Honey Roasted Milk Slices
Melt butter and honey in a double boiler, stirring until well mixed. I used half of the mixture before remembering to take a photo, so there’s less in the picture.
Cut the cake into thin slices. Mine were about 1.5cm thick. Bake in a preheated oven at 120 degrees Celsius for about 50 minutes, or until the cake slices are hard and dry to the touch. If your oven has a convection setting, it’s recommended to use it. Brush the honey butter mixture onto both sides of the cake slices with a brush.
Then adjust the oven temperature to 150 degrees Celsius and bake for 8 minutes, or until you hear a sizzling sound from inside. Take out and let cool before serving.
The finished milk slices are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Mine may have been slightly under-baked, but it doesn’t matter as it’s my favorite now. It’s perfect for breakfast with a bowl of strawberry milkshake on a beautiful spring day.
