Steps to Make Chinese Steamed Egg
Bring water in a pot to a boil.
In an empty bowl, add fermented rice wine and sugar. Use hot water to rinse the fermented rice wine to bring out its aroma for better taste.
Once the water in the pot is boiling, add a drop of white vinegar. The purpose of adding white vinegar is to help the egg mixture coagulate more easily. Then turn off the heat. Crack an egg into the pot. Let it slowly start to coagulate without turning on the heat.
When the egg is almost set, turn up the heat and continue to cook. Cook to your desired consistency – if you like it tender, cook it for a shorter time; if you prefer it firmer, cook it a bit longer.
The cooked egg looks very beautiful.
Pour some of the boiling water from the pot over the egg. A delicious Chinese steamed egg is ready to be enjoyed.
