Steps to Make Ginger Powder
A few days ago, I saw fresh ginger at a very cheap price in the supermarket and bought a few pieces. However, the ginger was too wet and easy to rot, making it difficult to store, so I decided to make some ginger powder.
Peel and wash the fresh ginger, and use about 5 pieces. Since the ginger is relatively fresh and moist, I used a thin spoon to gently scrape off the skin, which is more effective than using a peeler and also saves ingredients.
Cut the ginger into slices. I cut them relatively thin for easier drying.
Spread the ginger slices on parchment paper. My home is in Northeast China, and the kitchen floor is tiled and warm in winter. I wiped the floor clean and placed the parchment paper directly on the floor to dry the ginger slices with the help of the floor’s warmth. This is the ginger slices I prepared before going to bed at night.
This is a photo taken in the morning of the second day, and the ginger slices are already half-dried.
This is the state on the second night, which is about 24 hours of drying with the help of the floor’s warmth, and the ginger slices are about 70-80% dry.
This is the completely dried state, and the dried ginger slices are broken into small pieces.
Put the dried ginger pieces into a food processor.
Grind into powder.
The finished product has a beautiful color and a strong flavor. I couldn’t help but sneeze when taking the photo. Store it in a sealed jar and add it to dishes or fillings to remove fishy smells and add flavor without the taste of ginger. It is especially suitable for friends who do not like to eat ginger.
