Japanese Oden Cooking Steps
Prepare the main ingredients, kombu, bonito flakes, potatoes, carrots, sweet peppers, etc.
Cut the radish into sections, about 1.5cm
Peel the radish, making sure the edges are smooth to prevent it from getting easily damaged
Simmer the kombu over low heat
Add bonito flakes and continue simmering over low heat
Strain the broth, add mirin, light soy sauce, then add radish and carrots. Stew for 30-40 minutes, then add konjac, meatballs, and other ingredients. Let it soak in the broth for about 1 hour after it’s cooked. For meat lovers, you can add spare ribs and spare rib broth to enhance the flavor of the radish.
