Steps for making Lotus Seed, Lily and Tremella Sweet Soup
Take an appropriate amount of red lotus seeds and dried lily, the amount can be adjusted according to personal preference. I used 18 lotus seeds and a small handful of dried lily, and 2 small pieces of tremella. Tremella will expand after soaking. I made it for myself, so I didn’t make too much. Adjust the amount according to your own situation.
Soak the tremella, lotus seeds, and dried lily separately. Tremella can be soaked for one to two hours.
Remove the hard roots of the soaked tremella, wash and tear it into small pieces. Peel and remove the lotus heart from the lotus seeds. Lotus seeds are bitter and cold in nature, and can be soaked in water to drink. They can lower blood pressure, clear the heart, and treat insomnia and excessive dreaming. Rub and wash the soaked dried lily and set aside.
Add an appropriate amount of water to the ceramic inner pot of the electric stew pot. The amount of water can be adjusted according to personal preference. I like sweet soup, so I added 2.5 liters of water, which is not too thick or too thin. If you like it thicker, you can add less water.
Choose the nutrition soup and wait for the delicious food. If you don’t have an electric stew pot, you can also use an electric pressure cooker or a clay pot. The first two are more convenient because you don’t have to worry about burning the pot or watching the fire. For the clay pot, boil it over high heat and then simmer over low heat. It takes about one and a half to two hours.
Although stewing in an electric stew pot is slower than using a pressure cooker, you can add ingredients at any time, which is more convenient. Stew for two hours and forty minutes, and taste the tremella, which should be soft. Add the soaked lotus seeds and adjust the time according to the different pots you choose.
Add the soaked dried lily and wolfberries.
Add an appropriate amount of sugar according to personal taste, stir well, and stew for another 40 minutes.
