Step-by-Step Guide to Making Purple Sweet Potato Toast
Mash the steamed purple sweet potatoes into a puree, the finer the better
Put all main ingredients into the bread maker
Stir with chopsticks first to check the consistency. Due to varying water content in sweet potatoes, there may be differences
Then start the kneading program
Add butter after 10 minutes. I softened the butter on a radiator, which resulted in better absorption. I tore the dough apart before adding the butter for better absorption
When the kneading program ends and the dough expands, forming a thin membrane
Cover with plastic wrap and let it ferment until it doubles or triples in size
Divide the dough into 3 portions, cover with a cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes
Roll the dough into long strips
Braid the strips
Place in a toast mold
Keep warm and moist until it’s 80% full
Cover and preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius for 5 minutes, then bake on the lower rack for 35 minutes
When the toast is done, shake it on the stove so it doesn’t collapse in the middle
Remove from the mold and let it cool before slicing
If gifting, wrap the toast in a toast bag for a nice presentation, a homemade touch!
Serve sliced with eggs, ham, and vegetables for a convenient and nutritious breakfast for kids
