Detailed Steps for Cooking Roasted Yam Slices
The yam used is the thin iron rod yam (with brownish-red spots like rust, hence the name iron rod yam).
Peel and wash the yam thoroughly.
Pat dry with paper towels.
Cut into even thin slices diagonally. Don’t cut them too thick.
Arrange the slices on a roasting rack.
Preheat the Joyoung KX-32J97 oven and select the hot air function: 160 degrees Celsius on both upper and lower sides, place the rack in the middle, and roast for 30 minutes. The high-density roasting rack heats evenly on both upper and lower sides, so there is no need to flip the slices halfway through.
Let cool after roasting. The skin is crispy, while the inside has a slightly soft texture.
