Detailed Steps for Making Snowflake Pastry
Prepare the ingredients: marshmallows, milk powder, butter, biscuits, mixed nuts (I used roasted peanuts, sunflower seeds, walnuts, dried cranberries, and raisins).
Cut the marshmallows into small pieces for easier melting later.
If the biscuits are large, break them into smaller pieces. If they are already small, mix them with the nuts.
Melt the butter in a pan over low heat.
Wait for the butter to melt.
Add the marshmallows.
Stir constantly until the marshmallows melt, then turn off the heat immediately. Do not stir the marshmallows for too long, otherwise the finished product will be very hard.
Add the milk powder.
Mix well.
Add the biscuits and nuts.
Quickly mix well, trying to evenly coat the ingredients with the marshmallow syrup.
Transfer the mixture to a non-stick baking pan, put on PVC gloves, and knead and press repeatedly while it is still hot to make the mixture more even.
Use the baking pan, a scraper, and a rolling pin to shape the mixture into a rectangular shape.
Sift a layer of milk powder on top to create the snowflake effect.
Flip it over and sift milk powder on the other side as well.
Let it cool and then cut it into pieces with a serrated knife.
This is my second time making it. I previously made cocoa snowflake pastry, but I fried the marshmallows for too long, so the finished product was a bit hard.
