Steps to Make Steamed Cornmeal Buns
Prepare the ingredients. Weigh the flour. Dissolve the old dough in warm water (40 degrees Celsius). Set aside.
Pour the old dough water into the flour and stir. Knead into a smooth dough. Let it rest in a warm place for 1 hour.
Take out the rested dough. Sprinkle some salt and baking soda on the cutting board. Knead the salt and baking soda into the dough (knead for a while).
Divide the kneaded dough into several portions (as desired). Roll each portion into a ball. Then use your fingers to make a hole in the middle.
Okay, I made five large ones. Steam them for 10 minutes. I steamed them in a rice cooker with the rice, so when the rice is cooked, the buns are ready too.
Okay, let’s get started.
