Steps for Making Sweet Bread or Baked Mantou
Prepare the Ingredients
Pour yeast, salt, and sugar into a bowl, add water, and stir well to make yeast mixture.
Pour flour into a large bowl.
Add yeast mixture slowly while stirring.
Add milk while stirring.
Add egg while stirring.
Add vanilla powder while stirring.
Knead the dough until smooth and elastic. No need to do the gluten windowpane test.
Grease a bowl and put the dough in it.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Take out the dough the next morning and let it warm up.
Let the dough continue to rise.
Divide the dough into 6 pieces, knead each piece, brush the baking pan with oil, put in the dough, and let it rest for 15 minutes.
Brush the dough with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Preheat the oven to 220 degrees, put the baking pan in the middle, use bottom heat first, then use top and bottom heat, and bake until fully cooked and golden brown. Remove from the oven.
