Detailed Steps for Making Taro Flower Cake
Bake two 6-inch chiffon cakes.
Invert and let cool naturally. Use one cake for the head of the character and the other cake to make the body, arms, and ears of the character. If you want to add filling to the head cake, you can cut the cake, add the filling, and then assemble.
Prepare chocolate sauce and food coloring.
Steam taro until soft, mash it into a paste, sieve it, then mix with milk to a piping consistency. (Add some condensed milk to adjust the flavor)
Divide into small portions, add a few drops of food coloring to each portion.
Transfer the mixture into a piping bag with a round tip and pipe decorations onto the cake.
Whip 200g of whipping cream with 20g of sugar until stiff peaks form.
Use one cake for the character’s face, and cut the other cake in half to make the body, ears, and arms of the character. Assemble them accordingly.
Start by spreading cream on the face portion.
Spread it evenly, trying to make it as smooth as possible.
Use a toothpick (or a small cone tool) to draw the character’s features and clothing.
Once the drawing is done, pipe chocolate sauce along the lines.
Take your time to add colors one by one. Taro flower cake is not only nutritious but also delicious.
