Steps to Make Wotou
I used sticky cornmeal, but regular cornmeal works too. Cornmeal is the main ingredient, and a little bit of other flour, such as millet flour or bean flour, can be added. I also added some wheat and buckwheat that I had at home, but it’s optional.
Mix with hot water. Be sure to use hot water.
Knead until it forms a ball. I added too much water this time, which makes it difficult to shape.
Shape it and put it in a steamer. Usually 30 minutes is enough.
It’s not very firm and a bit flat, but the taste is still good. It’s nice to have some coarse grains occasionally.
This is what I made before, it looks a bit better than this time.
Hope this helps!
